Seven books. Seven stories hiding the same secret. One fight for freedom.

Not every alcoholic looks like one. Some wear suits and run companies. Some make school lunches. Some promise God they'll never drink like their father.

On the outside, life looks perfect. On the inside, alcohol is stealing everything.

This complete collection includes:

  • The Daughter of a Drunk (5-book series): Six-year-old Olivia makes a bathroom-floor promise never to become her father. Watch her spend decades keeping it until her brother's death shatters everything.
  • The Double Life of a High-Functioning Alcoholic: Executive Dave has the corner office and the secrets. The blackouts are getting worse.
  • From Wine Mommy to Sober Mommy: Emily is the perfect mom until the police knock on her door and she has to choose between wine and her children.

These aren't self-help books. They're raw, unflinching stories that show what addiction actually feels like. The shame. The lies. The moment you can't hide anymore. And the brutal, beautiful fight to get your life back.

Don't just read about recovery. Feel it.

something I never experienced

I had no idea how hard it is to stop drinking. I cannot drink as it makes me sick. I wonder why we allow alcohol to dominate our society. It is weakness.

inspiring

I am in recovery myself, this was a breath of fresh air. To know you are not perfect, mistakes will happen. As long as you get back up, life will continue on safely again. Great read and proud of you. Cheers to sobriety.

Daughter of an Alcoholic Father

Great and sad book-deeply relatable-experienced alcohol killing my father too soon and destroying my Mother episode by episode-she keep us sane,he gave us passion for life -We all did the best we could and some of us became alcoholic and recovering alcoholics and I became a workaholic and life goes on-ugly vicious disease-God got us through it -I personally hate alcohol

nice series, really interesting

I’ve been following The Daughter of a Drunk series from the start, and going into Blood Money, I knew it was going to be heavy, but I wasn’t prepared for how deeply it would hit. I have watched people fight addiction, and Olivia struggle felt painfully familiar. I loved how Olivia doesn’t suddenly turn into a superhero. She uses what she know, and turn the tables. I look forward to next series.

great but hard to read

OK, what can I say... "Exactly Like My Father" hits straight into addiction and family trauma from the very first page. Olivia Parker is the kind of character you want to shake and hug at the same time. The way her promise at six years old comes back to haunt her felt painfully real. I’m not sure why, but the McKinsey job loss part hit me harder than I expected. Maybe just because of my brother went through the same actually...Anyway, one thing that worked well is how the story shows addiction as something inherited and learned, not chosen, and it’s explained in a way that 1/ I could follow easily and 2/ still felt emotional. The author’s writing style is clear and direct. Only (small) critic: some scenes felt long and repetitive, especially during the drinking spiral, but I get why it was done.

Fantastic book

A fantastic and accurate account of what some call a high-functioning alcoholic - although once sober usually learn that was not the case. Perfect descriptions of the path that leads to the ultimate decision to quit, the early days and how lives can be transformed into truly living. Sobriety has been the greatest decision of my life and I love to hear from others who have found the joys of sobriety.

A study in Restraint and Consequence

It’s not my usual way to read a series beginning with the third installment without knowledge of the preceding books, but this didn’t affect me one way or the other. What drew me to this novel is psychology rather than plot - this is where my experience remained. The novel is all about restraint and planning as well as the price of remaining sober and on track when everyone else is going crazy. The decisions that Olivia makes seem to carry an air of deliberation and just reward rather than over-the-top plot point. Fans of psychological intrigue and the consequences that come with it will probably really appreciate this novel.

Great Story About Problems Many People Faced

This is a great story that a lot of people can relate to. Alcoholics come from all walks of life, whether you're a construction worker, teacher, or corporate executive. The book really helps you understand what life is like for people struggling with alcohol. I think what makes this book so powerful is how honest and raw it is. It doesn't sugarcoat anything, but it also shows that recovery is possible. You get a real sense of the daily battles these people face and how alcoholism affects not just them but everyone around them. Definitely worth reading if you want to understand addiction better.

Good

This story is intense, emotional, and deeply gripping from the first page to the last. The characters feel raw and real, and the tension never lets go. A haunting, satisfying conclusion that stays with you long after finishing.

A Vivid Picture of Addiction

I read the book in hours. It is a vivid picture of addiction, painfully vivid. I think there was some repetition in the descriptions of each time she went back to the bottle but they were not too distracting.

Gripping and Powerful

Blood Money is a compelling and intense read that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The story is well-crafted, thought-provoking, and delivers strong impact through its themes and pacing. A solid choice for readers who enjoy powerful storytelling and meaningful depth.

A page turner, but nothing groundbreaking

A heartbreaking fast paced story about a woman who experienced something deeply traumatic, only to have this event change the course of her entire life from dealing with criminal CEOs (one of whom assaulted her), news agencies writing false stories about her, and getting de-platformed because of accusations. It was a roller coaster of a story that kept me flipping the pages, however I give it 4 stars because it’s definitely AI written.

Revealing the pain and shame of a child of an alcoholic

Never Like My Father paints a vivid picture of the pain and shame children of an alcoholic feel every day. Mr. Kane does a magnificent job of foreshadowing how that pain and shame mutates into the specter that hangs over every child of an alcoholic ? that they could turn out to be exactly like their father. This story will resonate with anyone who has dealt with addiction in their family. It is well written and compelling. I highly recommend Exactly Like My Father.

This book was fantastic. Olivia picked herself up out of the gutter and found her footing. I love a good payback and she set one in motion.

Intense, Gripping, and Powerfully Written

Blood Money is a compelling psychological thriller that delivers tension, emotional depth, and a strong sense of momentum from start to finish. Howard Kane skillfully explores themes of survival, power, and revenge, creating a story that feels raw, driven, and deeply engaging. The emotional stakes are high, and the narrative keeps you invested as events unfold with purpose and impact. What stood out most is the psychological weight behind the story. The characters feel shaped by their experiences, and the tension builds in a way that keeps you fully immersed. This installment adds depth and intensity to The Daughter of a Drunk series, making it a powerful and satisfying read for fans of psychological thrillers. A gripping book that holds your attention and leaves a lasting impression.

I read this book in a few hours. I couldn’t put it down. Living with alcoholism is a hard life. But, it doesn’t have to steal every family member.

Not a memoir- a how to sober up manual

Not a bad book by any means, I was just looking for non-fictional account of a sobriety journey. This is kind of a 12 step story and it’s fictional. His wife and family are way too supportive and insightful to be real… but there may be some redeeming value in the overall story of the process.

Amazing book that delivers the goods

This book is a gripping psychological thriller that pulls you in from the first page and doesn’t let go. Olivia is a deeply compelling character, strong in quiet, realistic ways, and her inner struggle is just as tense as the external danger she faces. The themes of survival, power, and control are handled with care, showing the long-term impact of trauma without sensationalizing it.The pacing is sharp, the emotional stakes feel real, and the psychological tension builds steadily throughout. What stood out most was the balance between intelligence and vulnerability, and how every decision carries consequences. Dark, thought-provoking, and emotionally charged, this story stays with you long after you finish reading.

A heavy but important story

Went into this not fully knowing what to expect and it hit much harder than anticipated. Seeing the world through a child trying to make sense of addiction was painful and very real. The emotions felt honest, raw and familiar, even without sharing the same experiences. A heavy but important story that lingers after you finish reading.

A difficult read with a message of hope

An emotional and rather heavy book. It’s definitely not something you’d call light evening reading. I think for people who grew up in similar environments with parents struggling with addiction, it may trigger difficult associations. Still, the story leaves a sense of hope, showing that even a young girl was able to cope with such a hardship.

A Raw and Honest Story of Survival and Strength

From the very first pages, the story feels painfully real and emotionally gripping. Olivia’s childhood is described with a level of honesty that doesn’t soften the reality of growing up with addiction, fear, and forced responsibility. The promise she makes as a child becomes the thread that holds the entire narrative together, and it’s heartbreaking to watch how much she carries at such a young age.

This book hit closer to home than I expected.

The honesty around growing up with addiction felt raw and real, and I found myself pausing more than once to sit with my own memories. I especially connected with the promise at the heart of the story, it gave everything meaning and hope. Some parts were emotionally heavy and hard to get through, but overall it’s a powerful, brave read that stays with you long after you finish.
